A camping permit is required if camping on the beach and bookings are essential. Beach camping sites on Bribie Island are some of the best available in south east Queensland.
There is also resort style accommodation available on the island along with cabins at caravan parks located close to the beach vehicle entrance.
Once on the beach, there are several places of interest to visit. These include Freshwater creek & Welsby Lagoon as popular swimming spots out of the surf. Fort Bribie and other World War II relics remain along the beach. Lighthouse Reach is a perfect picnic area. It is advisable to check tide times and only travel 2 hours either side of low tide when on the beaches of Bribie as the beach can be very soft and sometimes impassable with a high tide.
